This restaurant offers a quiet and pleasant escape from the busy Almirante Reis Avenue in the center of Lisbon’s Anjos district.

Just as most restaurants in this neighborhood it offers low cost dining but has just a little more variety and care that make it stand out.

It has a terrace lower than street level offering a quiet retreat from the traffic and bustle of this busy, multi cultural commerce street.

It has a good variety of pizza, various meat and fish dishes (not only the grilled sort!) and a nice selection of hand made desserts.

Meals and pizza around 6 – 7 euro, wine starting at 3,50 a bottle and desserts less than 2 euro.

The waiters are friendly and attentive.

Just its atmosphere is a good reason to lunch or diner here, if you are in the area.

The Turkish kebab house on the Almirante Reis Avenue in the center of Lisbon Anjos district is the perfect place for the best Kebab, Falafel and Turkish snacks and dishes. Noted as one of the 150 best restaurants in Lisbon 2011 by Timeout Lisbon, its the place to eat Kebab in Lisbon city.

There is no alcohol served and the food is 100% Halal.

Another typical pastelaria (pastry shop) in Lisbon that serves hot meals at lunch between 12.00 and 15.00.
But one to be recommended for price – quality balance.

Standard traditional meat and fish dishes such as grilled salmon(around 6,50) or grilled Dorade(around 6,50). Meat such as Chicken Imperial, Veal t-bone steak or mixed kebab at roughly the same price.

Annapurna restaurant, on the Almirante Reis avenue in Arroios Lisbon, is to be recommended to anybody that likes Indian food and even those that don’t because after a meal in this restaurant they’re likely to come around.

The food is absolutely delicious, the service impeccable and attentive, the presentation culinary.

Our meal started came accompanied by chapati and 3 very tasty dips and ended with a short mango juice (both included in the meal price).

Our main courses came bubbling in the pots they were made in and were perfectly balanced.

The restaurant was quiet and seemingly undiscovered by both locals and tourists but absolutely to be recommended and our compliments to the chef!

Very close to the Almirante Reis in the Largo de Santa Barbara, where tourist seldom dwell, you will find the real Lisbon in a couple of restaurants on the Largo de Santa Barbara.

One of which is the Restaurante Marisqueira Os Amigos.
The restaurant is a couple of minutes walk from the Anjos station and offers delicious, fresh fish dishes typical Portuguese style. Simple, perfectly cooked and in season.
Most of the customers are locals.
The staff is friendly, charming and helpful and improvisation to suit your needs is something they like to do.

The restaurant is spacious, pleasant and comfortable and very affordable.
Lisbon style the TV is always on and just visiting for a drink is no problem.
For those who don’t like fish they have also traditional Portuguese meat dishes.
Sadly no vegetarian dishes yet.

Amore Mio we found a pleasant surprise in a small street, Rua Carlos Mardell, parallel to the Almirante Reis close to the park of the illuminated fountains in s. Jorge de Arroios.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with an eye for detail, the seating comfortable and the bar gorgeous.

In an area where you will find mostly traditional Portuguese “tascas” this restaurant can make a very nice change.

The food is good. Pizza with a thin, crisp bottom the way it should be, pasta a little bit beyond “al dente” but not over cooked.

A good house wine at 5,50 and a wine list with enough choice.

Impeccable service and good food make this restaurant a good choice if you are in the area.

Prices around 10 euro for a main course (pizza’s starting at 8).
Lunch prices based on smaller portions at 4,50.

Another great surprise close to the Avenida de Almirante Reis close to Anjos in the s. Jorge de Arroios district.

The restaurant is a Cantonese Chinese restaurant with original Cantonese dishes. Its a busy bustling restaurant with a mix Chinese customers and Lisbon locals.
They have a large exciting menu.
The specialties are amongst others
Peking duck with pancakes and vegetables
Pork meat with honey
Roasted pork slices

The staff is friendly and the space large.

The restaurant decoration is not personal but of a comfortable canteen type that reminds me very much of the Cantonese Chinese restaurants in the Chinese area of the Zeedijk in Amsterdam.

The food is definitely exciting and I would consider it one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve visited in Portugal.

A real luxurious Grande Cafe on the Almirante Reis, Lisbon which easily ranks close to the top with the best grande cafes in the world.

The cafe Imperio was build in 1955 as part of the Imperio cinema. The cinema no longer exists as a cinema but the cafe remains to go strong.

The atmosphere is that of 50′s luxury and delicious decadence and walking downstairs to the lounge really gives a feeling of moving back in time to the glamor of 50′s Hollywood.

Everything fits from the decor to the service.

Visiting this cafe should be part of every ones travel itinerary, when in Lisbon.

The cafe consists of 3 areas, The pastelaria where most of the cakes are home made, the cafe / lounge area and the restaurant.

The food is a mix of famous international dishes such as Melon and ham, Prawn cocktail, Strogonoff and Tagliatelle with cream and mushroom.

Another jewel on the Avenida de Almirante Reis, Lisbon.
Cervejaria (beer house) Ramiro is one of the better seafood restaurants in Lisbon. It’s always busy and even though you can wait for a table and you probably wont wait too long, if you want to be absolutely sure you may also reserve.

Prices are very reasonable and mostly by the kilo, which means you will pay whatever the weight of your chosen fish is.

Its a busy, lively restaurant well worth standing in line for!

According to their own site the restaurant is not sophisticated but pleasant, But I care to differ and think it has a lot of typical Lisbon sophistication (and is very pleasant!).
The staff are very attentive and friendly, the fish absolutely fresh and the space divided into 3 floors each with its own characteristics.
The bottom floor busy, bustling, noisy and lively to the top floor which is tranquil and quiet.

The menu consists of smoked ham, oyster, lobster, clams, crab and many other delicacies from starter to dessert.

Aqui ha Peixe is a very pleasant, trendy restaurant in the hearth of the beautiful Chiado down town district of Lisbon.
